A passive-airflow litter box that tackles smell at the source. The Cateco starter kit uses a base-vented chamber under the litter so air circulates continuously, drying clumps and preventing the ammonia build-up that causes that classic litter-box smell. No filters, no electricity, no batteries. Available in blue or sage green to fit modern Canadian homes.
Litter box smell comes from two sources: fresh urine releasing ammonia, and damp clumps growing bacteria. Standard covered litter boxes trap moisture and make both worse. The Cateco design vents the base of the litter chamber so passive airflow continuously dries the litter from below. Drier litter means less ammonia, less bacterial growth, and dramatically less odour — without any battery-powered fan, filter replacement cycle, or electricity.
Multi-cat households fight a constant battle against litter odour because more cats means more urine, more clumps, and more wet litter. The Cateco's airflow design scales especially well in multi-cat scenarios. The N+1 rule still applies (2 cats = 3 boxes minimum), but each Cateco box smells dramatically better than a covered or open conventional box, so the room stays usable even when boxes are visible.
Assembly takes about 5 minutes. The box ships with the airflow grate, base, and rim — clip them together, add 3–5 cm of your preferred clumping litter, and place. Scoop daily as you normally would. Wash the box with mild soap every 2–4 weeks. The airflow grate lifts out separately for cleaning.
