Wall shelves add territory without using any floor space, which is why they work so well in Canadian condos and small apartments. A run of three or four shelves creates a climbing route that can circle a room, doubling your cat's usable space.
Mount into studs, not drywall anchors alone. A cat landing on a shelf generates several times their body weight in force. Find the studs, and if the spacing does not suit your layout, mount a backing board across two studs and attach shelves to that.
Spacing between shelves should be 30-40 cm vertically and within comfortable jumping distance horizontally. For senior cats or heavier breeds, keep the steps shorter and add a lower entry step so they are not making one big leap from the floor.
